Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard has a slight groin tear and will be out for two to four weeks, general manager Ken Holland told MLive.com on Tuesday.

Howard underwent an ultrasound on Monday, which revealed the tear. Howard had to be carted off the ice on Saturday after less than two minutes of play after his legs split awkwardly while he was trying to get back to the net on a wraparound goal attempt.

Earlier that day, he was named to the NHL All-Star team for the second time in his career. He will now miss the upcoming game on Jan. 25 due to the injury.

Howard, 30, is 16-7-7 with a 2.11 goals against average and .920 save percentage in 31 starts this season.

Petr Mrazek will start in place of Howard on Tuesday night against the Buffalo Sabres. The Red Wings also recalled Tom McCollum from Grand Rapids of the AHL to fill Howard's spot on the roster.
