Report: Wild, Avalanche will host outdoor games next season
The NHL is expected to announce this weekend that the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche will host outdoor games next season, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
According to McKenzie, the Avalanche will play the Detroit Red Wings and the Wild will play the Chicago Blackhawks.
Outdoor venues in Denver include Sports Authority Field, home of the Denver Broncos, and Coors Field, where the Colorado Rockies play. Minneapolis has TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota, which currently serves as the temporary home of the Minnesota Vikings in addition to hosting college football, and Target Field, the home of the Minnesota Twins.

It has also been widely reported that the Boston Bruins will host the 2016 Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
The games would be the third and fourth outdoor regular NHL games played in the western United States. Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles hosted a Stadium Series game last season and Levi's Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area will host a game in February.
