“The New York Islanders look forward to returning to the Maritimes and playing in Halifax, Nova Scotia,” said Islanders president and GM Garth Snow said during a conference call. “We know we have a lot of Islanders fans throughout the region and are excited to be back.”
Nova Scotia has never had its own NHL team, but the game is a nod to its professional hockey roots. Halifax is home to Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Colorado Avalanche (and former Moosehead) Nathan MacKinnon.

Questions have already started to rise about the game's lineup, mainly regarding whether Islanders' star Canadian forward Jonathan Tavares will suit up.
