Watch: Islanders' John Tavares nets OT-winner to top Maple Leafs

John Tavares scored a superb goal to lead the Islanders to a 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs on Monday night.

John Tavares made the New York Islanders’ overtime win a little bit prettier on Monday night.

The 24-year-old lifted the Islanders over the Toronto Maple Leafs with a dazzling goal, beating several Leafs in a matter of a few seconds.

Tavares picked up the puck near the blueline, cut through the neutral zone, entered the attacking zone while first shifting around Richard Panik. He then took Morgan Rielly into the corner before cutting back to slide around Tim Erixon and rocket a shot past Jonathan Bernier for his 33rd goal of the year.

The goal was his second point of the night after picking up an assist earlier in the game.
