Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds and defenseman Andrew MacDonald will miss the rest of the season with injuries, general manager Ron Hextall announced on Wednesday.
The team said Simmonds has a lower-body injury and MacDonald has an upper-body injury. Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly reports Simmonds has a fractured left leg and McDonald has a fractured right hand.
Simmonds, 26, scored his team-leading 28th goal of the season during Wednesday’s win over the Blackhawks. He is also third on the team with 49 points.
The 28-year-old MacDonald has two goals and 10 assists this season.
The Flyers are 30-29-16, nine points behind the Senators for the final playoff Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Philadelphia hosts San Jose on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
