Coyotes broadcaster charged with assault in casino fight
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) An Arizona Coyotes broadcaster has been charged with becoming belligerent at a Buffalo casino and biting the hand of an officer trying to subdue the former NHL defensemen.
The charges against radio analyst Nick Boynton include assault and resisting arrest.
Police say the 36-year-old Boynton became abusive toward patrons and security personnel at the Buffalo Creek Casino at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday. Later that day, the Coyotes said they placed Boynton on leave.
Officials say Boynton was arraigned in Buffalo City Court Friday and later released after posting $10,000 bail. He's due back in court Wednesday.
A phone message left with his lawyer, Keith Schulefand (SHOO'-leh-fand), wasn't returned.
Boynton joined the Coyotes' broadcast team in July 2014 after an 11-season NHL career with six teams. He was in Buffalo for Thursday night's game against the Sabres.
