Alex Ovechkin scores 51st goal, becomes Capitals' all-time leader

Alex Ovechkin notched his NHL-leading 51st goal of the season, the 473rd of his career to pass Peter Bondra for the Capitals' franchise mark. 

Days after hitting the 50-goal mark for the sixth time in his 10-season NHL career, Alex Ovechkin shows no signs of slowing down.

In a highly anticipated matchup of Hart Trophy candidates, Ovechkin ripped a shot past Canadiens' Vezina frontrunner Carey Price for his 51st goal of the season, extending his league-leading goal total:

With the tally, the 473rd of his career, the Caps' captain also passed long-time Washington great Peter Bondra for the franchise's all-time goals mark. Ovechkin also holds the record for points, power-play goals, overtime goals and game-winning goals, though he currently sits three assists back of teammate and leader Nicklas Backstrom.
