The Toronto Maple Leafs announced the firings of general manager Dave Nonis, interim coach Peter Horachek and his staff on Sunday.

Coaches Steve Spott, Chris Dennis and Rick St. Croix (goaltending) were also fired.

Steve Staois will resume his duties as manager of player development, while assistant general manager Kyle Dubas and director of player personnel Mark Hunter will share GM responsibilities while the team seeks a replacement for Nonis.

The Maple Leafs finished the season 30–44–8 with 68 points, the fourth-fewest in the NHL and the team's fewest since the 1996–1997 season.

Nonis, who had three years left on his contract, was hired as GM in January 2013, and the Maple Leafs have went 94–97–21 since. He originally joined the team in December 2009 as senior vice president of hockey operations.

Horachek was named interim coach on Jan. 7. The Maple Leafs went 9–28–5 with him at the helm. He was initially hired as an assistant coach last July.
