NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber's lower-body injury will prevent him from playing in the remainder of the team's Western Conference quarterfinal series with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Predators updated Weber's status Friday and ruled him out for the rest of the series. Weber, the Predators' team captain, hasn't played since getting hurt last week in Game 2 of the series.

The Predators also disputed speculation that Weber had torn his anterior cruciate ligament. Although the Predators haven't specified the nature of Weber's issue aside from calling it a lower-body injury, they said Friday that he didn't suffer an ACL injury.

The Predators trail 3-2 in the best-of-7 series. Game 6 will take place Saturday in Chicago.
