Blue Jackets still in the mix to sign Reilly, GM says

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen says prospect defenseman Mike Reilly still may sign with Columbus.

Kekalainen says Saturday at the NHL scouting combine that Reilly has had discussions with other teams, but he also informed the Blue Jackets they remain in the mix.

Reilly was Columbus' fourth-round pick in the 2011 draft, but granted permission to speak to other teams after foregoing his senior year of college eligibility at Minnesota.

The Blue Jackets retain his rights through June 15, though Reilly can't sign with another team until July 1.

Kekalainen says ''Hopefully, it will be with us, and if not then we'll just move on.''

Reilly had a career-best 42 points (six goals, 36 assists) in 39 games last season.
