Capitals acquire Blues' T.J. Oshie for Copley, Brouwer, 2016 pick
The Washington Capitals acquired right wing T.J. Oshie from St. Louis in a trade that will send right wing Troy Brouwer, minor league goalie Pheonix Copley, and a 2016 third-round draft pick to the Blues, the Capitals announced Thursday.
Oshie had the fifth-most points of any Blues' player last season with 55 points (19 goals and 36 assists), and logged one goal and one assist in the Blues' first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Wild.
Oshie has two years and $9 million remaining on a contract he signed in 2012 with the Blues.
The 2005 first-round draft pick represented the United States at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, as well as at three World Championships.
Brouwer had 21 goals and 22 assists for Washington last season, as well as three assists during the Capitals' postseason.
Copley signed with Washington in March of 2014. He played for the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League during the 2014–15 season and posted a 2.17 goals against average.
