Report: Patrick Kane unlikely to face criminal charges in rape case
Saturday October 31st, 2015

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is unlikely to face criminal charges for an alleged rape, reports The Buffalo News

Sources told The News the case, which has been under investigation for nearly three months, is unlikely to go to a grand jury. “The case is going nowhere,” according to a source from the report.

A woman told police on Aug. 2 Kane raped her in his home in Hamburg, N.Y., after the two met at a bar in downtown Buffalo. She told police Kane attacked and raped her while the two were alone in a room in his home.

The News reported in September DNA evidence from the investigation did not confirm the rape allegation. Later in September, it was revealed after an investigation by the district attorney’s office the alleged victim’s mother was responsible for an elaborate hoax after claiming someone had sent the “rape kit evidence bag” from the Kane case to her home.

Kane has played in 11 games for the Blackhawks this season, recording six goals and eight assists for 14 points. He has not faced any discipline for the alleged incident.
