The New York Islandersannounced center John Tavares is ruled out for Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils

The team added the reason for Tavares’s absence would be provided postgame. The “situation isn’t considered serious,” reports Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.

Tavares leads the Islanders in goals (5) and assists (6) so far this season. The forward is coming off a season where he finished with a career-high in goals (38) and points (86).
