Penguins’ Pascal Dupuis out vs. Oilers, taken to hospital as precaution

Pascal Dupuis was taken to the hospital as a precaution after experiencing symptoms possibly related to his blood clot history.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis was taken to the hospital as a precaution after experiencing symptoms possibly related to his blood clot history, the team announced before Friday night's game against the Edmonton Oilers.

“We’ve said all along that Pascal’s health is the highest priority,” general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement. “We will take every precaution necessary to ensure he is in good health.”

Dupuis missed all but 16 games last season due to a blood clot in his leg that traveled to his lung. He played in just 39 games during the 2013-2014 season due to a torn ACL.

In six games for the Penguins, Dupuis has one goal after missing the first two weeks of the season due to a lower body injury not related to a blood clot. He had one goal in four preseason games.
