The classic movie A Christmas Story inspired the Washington Capitals' zany 2015 holiday video featuring Alex Ovechkin in a bunny costume.

Nothing captures the spirit of the season quite like a gap-toothed Russian in a pink bunny costume. Or a bit of panicked roadside cussing.

So naturally the Washington Capitals turned to A Christmas Story as inspiration for their annual holiday video. And the end result is every bit as classic as the 1983 original.

The Caps cram plenty of highlights into the 95-second clip, and plenty of stars as well, including John Carlson as the cranky department store elf, Braden Holtby as lamp connoisseur Old Man Parker, and Hall of Famer Rod Langway as Santa. Several Caps assay the role of Ralphie, but it’s up to captain Alex Ovechkin to don the famous suit that makes him “look like a deranged Easter bunny.”

If only they could have had Jay Beagle as one of the Bumpus hounds ...

Nice bit of work, just the same.
