Bruins goalie Jonas Gustavsson leaves game vs. Ducks with illness

The Bruins announced that starting goaltender Jonas Gustavsson was removed from Tuesday's game against the Ducks due to illness and taken to Mass General Hospital for evaluation.

Boston Bruins’ goaltender Jonas Gustavsson was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital on Tuesday after the first period of the Bruins-Ducks game at TD Garden. 

After playing the entire opening period, Gustavsson did not return to the ice for the second, and the Bruins released a statement explaining the situation.

"Bruins goaltender Jonas Gustavsson exited tonight's game due to illness. He has been transported to Mass General Hospital for observation."

The 31-year-old Swede made 14 saves on 16 shots prior to leaving the game. He is 9-3-1 with a 2.29 GAA and .917 save percentage in his first season with Boston. Tuukka Rask finished the game in net for Boston.
