New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh will return to action Wednesday against the Chicago Blackhawks, the team announced.

McDonagh has missed four games since sustaining a concussion on Feb. 6 upon being punched in the face by Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds.

Simmonds was ejected from the game after receiving an intent to injure penalty. Afterwards, he threw his stick, which earned him a misconduct violation, which carries an automatic three-game suspension. Simmonds was not disciplined for his hit on McDonagh.

The 26-year-old McDonagh has 26 points on seven goals and 19 assists this season for the Rangers, who currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference Metropolitan Division.
