Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has racked up 42 assists this season, and this one might be the prettiest.

The Russian assisted countryman Alex Ovechkin with a nifty pass at the start of the second period to tie the game at 1–1. Kuznetsov appeared to be taking the puck around net, but shifted gears quickly, reversing direction to find Ovechkin.

The goal was No. 36 of the year for Ovechkin, who scored twice against the Islanders on Thursday, his 37th of the season coming less than two minutes later on a power play.

Washington went on to win 3–2, thanks to Justin Williams’s goal with 44 seconds left in overtime. Washington still holds a commanding lead in the Eastern conference and Metropolitan division with 88 points.
