Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh will miss Saturday’s game against the Red Wings with jaw and neck injuries and is listed as day to day, the team announced.

McDonagh was the recipient of a brutal hit by Leo Komarov during Thursday’s game against the Maple Leafs, one that resulted in a three-game suspension for the Toronto forward.

McDonagh was forced to leave the game afterward, and will have a CT scan on Saturday. Early fears were that he sustained a concussion, which the team ruled out. He had just returned to the ice after missing four games with a concussion after being punched in the jaw by Wayne Simmonds of the Flyers.

McDonagh, the Rangers’ captain, has 26 points in 54 games this season and is a plus-13 for the Rangers, who sit second in the Metropolitan Division with 72 points (33–19–6).
