Capitals forward Jay Beagle scored his seventh goal of the season against the Rangers, though no one is really sure if the puck actually went in the net.

Did you see what happened during the second period of Friday’s game between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers? No really, did you see it?

In a crowded scene around Rangers goalie Antti Raanta, the puck crossed the goal line to give the Caps their first tally of the night. At least, initial review said it did, though there was little evidence that the puck actually ever crossed the line.

The NHL's Situation Room in Toronto made it official, though before they could update the scoresheet, Rangers coach Alain Vigneault challenged the play for goaltender interference, leading to another lengthy video review that eventually concluded the goal stood, giving Jay Beagle his seventh of the season.

Those watching at home or in the press box, however, are still waiting to see what the NHL did.

Someone in Toronto saw the puck cross the line, and the rest of us will have to take their word for it.

The hubbub was all for naught, however, as the Derek Stepan scored the deciding tally for the Rangers just seventeen seconds into the third period for a 3-2 win over their Metro Division rivals.
