Jagr passes Howe for third all time on NHL point list

Jaromir Jagr passed Gordie Howe for third all time among NHL’s point leaders.

Aleksander Barkov scored his 20th goal of the season Monday night against the Boston Bruins, but the goal will likely be remembered for another player. Forty four-year old ageless wonder Jaromir Jagr assisted on the goal, tallying his 1,851st career point in the process.

That point moves him past Gordie Howe for third all time on the NHL’s career point list. Jagr is enjoying a career year in Florida, leading the Panthers in scoring with 49 points in 63 games through Monday’s matchup. He is now just 36 points away from Mark Messier for second all time.

The celebration for Jagr’s historic point was briefly held off as the Bruins challenged the goal, arguing goaltender interference. But eventually the goal was allowed and Jagr nabbed third place in the record books all for himself.
