Watch: Lightning’s Vasilevskiy robs Flyers on 2-on-0 attempt

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy made a sweet save on a big opportunity for the Flyers on Monday.

Chances don’t often come as easy as they did for the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night. But Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy wasn’t going to let the Flyers have it too easy.

Midway through the first period Vasilevskiy found himself face-to-face with Wayne Simmonds and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, who were just a few feet away from him with no defenders in between. Bellemare dished the puck to Simmonds, who tossed it right back to him before firing off a wrist shot.

Vasilevskiy extended for an incredible save to keep the Lightning lead at 1–0, though the Flyers eventually tied the game on a goal by Shayne Gostisbehere. The 21-year old Vasilevskiy was sporting an 11–5 record and a .914 save percentage through 18 games entering Monday night’s matchup.

The Flyers went on to win the game, 4–2.
