Late-season New York Rangers acquisition Eric Staal provided plenty of offense in the Blueshirts’ meeting with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.
The long-time Hurricane had only one goal with his new team coming into the game, but found the net twice on Sunday. His first goal was full of finesse and skill as Staal one-hand directed the puck past Marc-André Fleury with a defender draped over him.
The 31-year-old, picked second in 2003, hasn’t been to the Stanley Cup playoffs since the 2008–09 season.
The Rangers would appreciate if Staal’s scoring continues into the postseason as they try to reach the conference finals for the fourth time in five years.
