In what looked to be an inevitable goal by Sharks forward Logan Couture during Monday night’s game, Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick proved to be a hero.

As the final seconds of the second period wound down, San Jose’s Tommy Wingels found Couture in front of a wide open net, though as Couture learned, Quick was down but never out.

Quick, no stranger to making Save of the Year candidates, gave Couture a pretty harsh lesson about celebrating prematurely.

In a strange twist of fate, Quick’s stick save was matched by his video game version, yet another case of life imitating art.

The Kings currently lead the Pacific Division, while the Sharks sit in third, with both having six games left in the regular season.
