Rangers recall Brady Skjei from minors with McDonagh hurt

NEW YORK (AP) The New York Rangers have recalled defenseman Brady Skjei from Hartford of the AHL with the status of captain Ryan McDonagh uncertain.

McDonagh was hit in the hand by a shot in the Rangers' win over Columbus on Monday night and didn't play in the final two periods.

The team says McDonagh will be re-evaluated on Tuesday, before the Rangers play Tampa Bay.

Skjei has skated in four games with the Rangers this season, most recently last month against Buffalo. The 22-year-old, who was New York's first-round pick in 2012, has four goals and 24 assists in 68 games with Hartford this season.
