Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin rode a hat trick to his 50th goal of the season on Saturday night in a 5–1 win over the Blues.

After scoring twice in the first period, Ovechkin snuck a shot past Anders Nilsson at 10:35 of the third period, marking his 50th score of the year.

Washington goaltender Braden Holtby also picked up his 48th win of the season, tying Martin Brodeur’s record.

Ovechkin now has seven seasons with at least 50 goals. Hall of Famers Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy are the only players who have had more. They had nine each.
