2016 NHL playoffs: Complete list of first-round matchups

The 2015–16 NHL regular season concluded Sunday, meaning we now know the eight first-round matchups for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The 2015–16 NHL season concluded Sunday with the Philadelphia Flyers’ 5–2 win over the New York Islanders and the Anaheim Ducks’ 2–0 win over the Washington Capitals. With those two games over, the matchups for the first round of the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs are now set.

Here are all eight matchups:

Eastern Conference

Washington Capitals (Metropolitan Division champions) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (Second wild card); begins Thursday at Washington

Florida Panthers (Atlantic Division champions) vs. New York Islanders (First wild card); begins Thursday at Florida

Pittsburgh Penguins (Second place in Metropolitan Division) vs. New York Rangers (Third place in Metropolitan Division); begins Wednesday at Pittsburgh

Tampa Bay Lightning (Second place in Atlantic Division) vs. Red Wings (Third place in Atlantic Division); begins Wednesday at Tampa Bay

Dallas Stars (Central Division champions) vs. Minnesota Wild (Second wild card); begins Thursday at Dallas

Anaheim Ducks (Pacific Division champions) vs. Nashville Predators (First wild card); begins Friday at Anaheim

Los Angeles Kings (Second place in Pacific Division) vs. San Jose Sharks (Third place in Pacific Division); begins Thursday at Los Angeles

St. Louis Blues (Second place in Central Division) vs. Chicago Blackhawks (Third place in Central Division); begins Wednesday at St. Louis
