Flyers’ Sean Couturier exits Game 1 vs. Capitals with upper-body injury

The Flyers announced Sean Couturier would not be returning to the game due to an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

If the Philadelphia Flyers stand any chance of upsetting the Presidents' Trophy-winning Washington Capitals in their first round series, they’re going to need their entire team in good health. Their chances took a hit on Thursday night in Game 1 when versatile forward Sean Couturier was leveled by Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin against the boards and went to the locker room soon afterwards.

The Flyers announced that Couturier would not be returning to the game due to an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated Friday.

Couturier had one shot through 9:04 of ice time and had 11 goals and 39 points through 63 games in the regular season.

Washington ended up winning 2-0 to take the series lead. Game 2 is Saturday night in Washington.
