Lightning forward J.T. Brown has been ruled out indefinitely with an upper body injury, the team announced.

Brown was injured in the first period of Tampa Bay’s 5–2 win over Detroit on Friday and did not return.

Brown, 25, scored 22 points (eight goals and 14 assists) in 78 games this season. He will miss the rest of the first round, but could return later in the playoffs.

The Lightning lead the Red Wings 2–0 entering Sunday’s Game 3 in Detroit.
