Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik has been suspended three games by the NHL for his late hit on Olli Maatta during Washington’s Game 2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

Orpik was called for interference four minutes into Game 2, hitting Maatta in the head area and leaving him injured.

Maatta left the game after the hit and didn’t return. Game 3 of the second-round series will take place in Pittsburgh on Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
