Chayka will be the youngest general manager in NHL history.
The Arizona Coyotes are expected to name 26-year-old John Chayka as the team's new general manager in a press conference on Thursday, according to ESPN's Craig Custance.
Chayka will take over for Don Maloney, who was fired in April. He will be the youngest general manager in NHL history after spending one season in charge of the team's analytics in the front office. He was previously the co-founder of Stathletes, an analytics website.
Arizona was also reportedly considering Toronto Maple Leafs assistant general manager Kyle Dubas and Dallas Stars assistant general manager Les Jackson.
The Coyotes finished the season 35–39.
