Lightning forward Brian Boyle scored in overtime of Game 3 to give Tampa Bay a 5–4 win on Tuesday night. The Lightning now lead the series 2–1.

Defenseman Victor Hedman placed a wristshot on net that missed wide. The rebound went behind the net to Boyle, who was in perfect position on the other side. The center shot quickly into the open net to beat Islanders goalie Thomas Greiss, who could not move over in time to make the save.

The overtime period didn’t last long in the Barclays Center, as Boyle scored just under three minutes into the period. The goal marked the first postseason overtime goal for Boyle.

The Islanders will host the Lightning on Friday for Game 4.
