Barry Trotz, Gerard Gallant, Lindy Ruff named Jack Adams Award finalists

Washington’s Barry Trotz, Dallas’s Lindy Ruff and Florida’s Gerard Gallant have been named finalists for the Jack Adams Award, the NHL announced on Thursday.
The Jack Adams Award is given each year to the coach who has “contributed the most to his team’s success.”
Ruff helped the Stars to the playoffs with a 50-23-9 record, winning the Western Conference’s top spot. It was the first time since 2002–03 that the Stars reached that accolade and the first 50-win season since 2006–07 for the franchise.
In Florida, much of the team’s recent success has been due to Gallant, who is in his second season as the team’s coach. The Panthers won the Atlantic this year with a 47-26-9 record, the best in franchise history. This year marks the first time Gallant has been nominated for the award.

Washington’s Barry Trotz is up for the award for a third time as he helped the Capitals win the Presidents’ Trophy with 120 points and a 56-18-8 record. The 56 wins were the most in franchise history.
The award, along with the other NHL awards, will be given out on June 22 in Las Vegas.
