Watch: Lightning’s Garrison scores 1:34 into OT vs. Islanders

Jason Garrison broke a 1-1 tie just 1:34 into overtime, giving the Tampa Bay Lightning a win over the New York Islanders in Game 4.

It didn’t take quite as long as the Sharks-Predators triple-overtime marathon on Thursday, although the finale of Game 4 at Barclays Center produced another overtime hero.

Lightning defenseman Jason Garrison, he of only five goals during the regular season, played the role of hero by blasting a slap shot past Islander goalie Thomas Greiss 1:34 into the extra session with his first of the playoffs.

According to NBC Sports’ Kenny Albert, this was the shortest of 14 overtimes in the 2016 playoffs.

Garrison’s OT winner comes two days after Nikita Kucherov scored in overtime for the Lightning, who’ll take a 3-1 series lead back to Tampa with a chance to eliminate the Islanders on Sunday.
