Watch: Penguins’ Bonino scores series-clincher in OT

Nick Bonino scored 6:32 into overtime to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals in Game 6, and a ticket to the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Nick Bonino scored 6:32 into overtime Tuesday night to send the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Eastern Conference Final, eliminating the Washington Capitals in six games.

After blowing a 3-0 lead in regulation, the Penguins put the Capitals on their heels in overtime, finally breaking through when Bonino tapped in a rebound off Carl Hagelin’s wrister from the slot.

Bonino has recorded 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points in 11 games this postseason,tying him with Sidney Crosby for second on the team, behind only Phil Kessel (12).

Pittsburgh moves on to the Eastern Conference Final for the first time since 2013, where they will meet the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Presidents Trophy-winning Capitals were eliminated in the second round for the second straight season, falling short of their first Conference Final appearance since 1998.
