The Calgary Flames have acquired goaltender Brian Elliott from the Blues in exchange for the No. 35 pick in the 2016 NHL draft and a conditional third-round pick in 2018, it was announced by commissioner Gary Bettman.

Elliott, 31, went 23-8-6 in 42 games last year for the Blues, allowing average of 2.07 goals and posting a .930 save percentage. He missed just one game during St. Louis’s long playoff run, going 9–9 with a 2.44 goals-against average.

Calgary was also reportedly in discussions with Tampa Bay about goalie Ben Bishop, and with the Red Wings about Jimmy Howard.
