The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Auston Matthews to a three-year entry-level contract, the team announced Thursday.

Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports that the deal includes maximum bonuses and salary.

The Maple Leafs selected Matthews with the first pick in the 2016 NHL draft.

The forward registered 24 goals and 22 assists in 36 games with the NLA’s ZSC Lions this past season. He also recorded six goals and three assists in ten games with the United States at the IIHF World Championship and seven goals and four assists in seven games at the IIHF World Junior Championship.

Matthews was also named to Team North America’s roster for this year’s World Cup of Hockey.
