Goalkeeper Petr Mrazek has signed a two-year, $8-million deal to remain with the Detroit Red Wings, the team announced.

He is expected to earn $3.85 million next season and $4.15 million for 2017-18. The two parties reached an agreement as Mrazek's agent wanted $5 million annually but Detroit figured $2.7 million and then $3.15 million was more reasonable as they filed for arbitration.

“We have a good, young goalie in Petr, but he's still evolving,” general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press. “Last year, he had a tough stretch at the end, and Jimmy Howard stepped in and won some games for us.”

Power Rankings: Early ’16-17 look

He holds a 46-30-8 record with a 2.29 goals-against average and .920 save percentage over the past four seasons. He has emerged as the top option in the Detroit net over the past two years.
