Coyotes sign Rieder to 2-year deal

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Coyotes and center Tobias Rieder have ended a lengthy negotiation, agreeing to a two-year contract with an average annual salary of $2.225 million.

Rieder will receive $2 million the first season and $2.45 million the second in the deal announced on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Rieder played all 82 games last season, finishing with 14 goals and 23 assists. He has 27 goals and 31 assists in 154 career NHL games.

The German center also played for Team Europe in this summer's World Cup of Hockey. Rieder considered playing in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League when negotiations with the Coyotes dragged on.
