The Calgary Flames have signed forward Johnny Gaudreau to a six-year extension, the team announced on Monday.

Gaudreau, 23, is entering his third season in the NHL. He’ll be paid an average of $6.5 million, according to reports.

The third-year pro was tied for sixth in points last season with 78, and scored a career high 30 goals. In the World Cup of Hockey, he tallied four points for North America.

Gaudreau had been seeking around $8 million per year, according to the Calgary Sun, causing a standoff. That was ended on Monday.
