Wayne Gretzky will return to the Edmonton Oilers as the Partner and Vice-Chairman of Oilers' Entertainment Group, according to John Shannon of Sportsnet.

Gretzky played for the Oilers from 1979 to 1988 and won four Stanley Cups with the team. He was traded from the Oilers to the Kings in 1988 for forward prospect Martin Gelinas and the 20th pick in the 1991 NHL Draft. He went on to play 11 more seasons but never won a Stanley Cup again and retired with the New York Rangers in 1999.

In 1999, Gretzky was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and his number 99 was retired by the Oilers.

The Oilers also unveiled a new statue for Gretzky outside of Rogers Place on Wednesday.
