Panthers Really Played John Cena’s Theme Song During On-Ice Brawl

The Florida Panthers and Arizona Coyotes’ last meeting was not a friendly one, so it came as no big surprise that tensions were high when they squared off again on Wednesday night.

Panthers’ Ryan Lomberg and Yotes’ Jack McBain, neither of whom are usual participants in the face-off circle, met at center ice for puck drop on Wednesday, and it didn’t take long to see what their intentions were.

Right off the draw, Lomberg and McBain immediately dropped gloves and began to fight at center ice, not even leaving the face-off circle before starting to violently throw hands. The in-arena DJ was seemingly prepared for such a possibility, and he queued up the perfect track.

As haymakers began flying between the two skaters, the sound system at Amerant Bank Arena blasted the tune of John Cena’s former WWE entrance song, “The Time Is Now.”

McBain and Lomberg were eventually separated by the referees, but it didn’t take long for another skirmish to break out among the two unfriendly squads.

The bad blood stems from their previous meeting, when Arizona forward Jason Zucker boarded Florida’s Nick Cousins, leaving him with a concussion. Zucker was suspended for three games as a result of that hit, but it seems the Panthers wanted to settle things in their own manner on the ice, too.
