Michael Phelps and Team USA took home a gold medal in the men’s 4x100 IM relay, the final race of the swimmer’s career, winning with an Olympic-record 3:27.95 time.

Ryan Murphy began the race with a world-record 51.85 second split in backstroke, but Cody Miller relinquished the lead as he swam breaststroke. Phelps’s 50.3 split in the butterfly pulled the United States ahead, and Nathan Adrian capped off the race with freestyle.

It is the 23rd gold for Phelps—the fifth in six races this year—and the 28th medal of his career. He remains the most decorated Olympian of all time.
