Houston Dash acquire USWNT midfielder Carli Lloyd

Houston Dash acquired United States women’s national soccer team midfielder Carli Lloyd from the Western New York Flash for midfielder Becky Edwards, defender Whitney Engen, and a third-round selection in the 2016 National Women's Soccer League College Draft, the club announced Thursday.

She joins USWNT teammate Meghan Klingenberg on the Dash. Lloyd and Klingenberg  are currently with the USWNT as they play in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship.

This season for the Flash, Lloyd scored eight goals, and assisted on five others.

Lloyd, 32, has 177 caps in her international playing career for the United States scoring 51 goals, including scoring both goals in the USA’s 2-1 victory over Japan in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, earning the U.S. a gold medal.
