Despite playing every minute of the 2012 Olympics for the U.S., O’Hara has been overtaken for the starting left back position under manager Jill Ellis. She played on the wing at the 2011 World Cup, earning one cap during the tournament. Ankle surgery in 2013 limited her to just seven matches for the U.S.
O’Hara played forward in college at Stanford, winning the 2009 MAC Hermann Trophy, and she scored 24 goals in 35 matches for the U.S. Under-20 team.
