USMNT forward Bobby Wood scored his third goal of the season for Union Berlin.
With roster cut time approaching for Jurgen Klinsmann ahead of October's CONCACAF Cup playoff against Mexico, every player on the USA's 35-man provisional roster is under pressure to perform leading up to the showdown, and it appears Bobby Wood has heeded the call.
Wood, whose last-minute heroics helped the USA beat the Netherlands and Germany in a pair of June friendlies, scored for the second time in three games for Union Berlin in the 2. Bundesliga, tallying against FSV Frankfurt on Wednesday.
Wood displayed some composure and nifty footwork for his goal, cutting back and spinning on a pair of defenders before turning and firing a low, right-footed shot for the 39th-minute opener. Another American, former U.S. youth national team player Shawn Barry, scored the go-ahead goal for Frankfurt to put the hosts ahead 2-1 after a spurt in which they scored twice in three minutes. Frankfurt wound up winning 3-2.

Wood now has three goals on the season, his first with Union Berlin after a summer move from 1860 Munich.
