Alex Morgan scored her first U.S. hat trick since November 2012 as the USWNT secured its place at the 2016 Olympics.
Alex Morgan's hot start to 2016 continued on Friday night as she scored a hat trick in the U.S. women's national team's 5-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago, which secured the USA's place in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
In the 29th minute, Kelley O'Hara crossed the ball over to Lindsey Horan, who headed it back toward the near post for Morgan to score her 60th international goal:
Morgan's first goal of the night tied her at eighth on the all-time U.S. list with Shannon McMillan, but she passed her soon after.
In the second half, Morgan added two more goals for the hat trick, the third of her U.S. career.
It was Morgan's first U.S. hat trick since November 2012.
The United States will face Canada in the final of CONCACAF's Olympic qualifying tournament, but regardless of the result, both will represent the confederation in Brazil.
