Is the luck of the Irish running out? From the time the National Championship board on Kalshi opened to just a week out from the start of the season, Notre Dame’s price has come down with several key factors coming into play.

Notre Dame came in topping the board at 18% and has since come down to 13%. It remains at the top of the board, tied with Ohio State. A $10 trade on Notre Dame winning the National Championship profits $62.46. It is one of five teams with a 10% price or better to win the National Championship this season.

Schedule comes back to haunt them

The talk of the offseason surrounding the Irish has been their questionable schedule. Notre Dame faces bottom-tier Big Ten and ACC teams plus two Group of 6 programs, with only two real threats.

Notre Dame faces three Big Ten opponents in Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan State, who each finished in the bottom four of the conference last season. It’ll then face the bottom three teams in the ACC from 2025 in Boston College, North Carolina, and Syracuse as well as Stanford, who finished 12th. SMU is also on schedule and has shown strides since joining the conference. It also plays Rice and Navy. As far as threats go, Notre Dame goes on the road to BYU and hosts Miami.

While Notre Dame could realistically go undefeated with its “cupcake” schedule, this could come around to hurt them when they do have to face tougher competition should they make the College Football Playoff.

Notable losses

Let's not forget that Notre Dame also lost notable contributors from last season. Out of the backfield, Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price were both first-round picks in the NFL Draft who combined for over 2,000 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns last season.

In the passing game, while it kept Jordan Faison, who paced the group, Malachi Fields, Eli Raridon, and Will Pauling were also top-five pass catchers who are off to the NFL.

Notre Dame did replace what they could at receiver with Mylan Graham and Quincy Porter from Ohio State, however, both saw limited playing time in a stacked wide receiver room and are now set to start.

Notre Dame kicks off its season on the Sunday slate of Week 1 against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay as a 90% favorite in Kalshi's game market.
