The first sign of retirement comes next season, as it is the first option on the board at over a 50% price. Kalshi gives him a 26% chance to do so before the 2026-27 NBA season.

Over the last week, Westbrook himself said in an interview with CNN's Elex Michaelson that he doesn't think about retiring.

“I don’t think about it honestly," Westbrook said. "I love playing basketball and if it happens, it works, and that’s my plan."

At 37 years old, Westbrook continues to be a contributor in the league. Last season with the Sacramento Kings, he saw his highest point, rebound, and assist totals over the last three seasons, averaging 15.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds.

Westbrook has been a true journeyman since his 11-year tenure with the Oklahoma City Thunder came to an end following the 2018-19 season. He’s played for six teams since, including the Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and Sacramento Kings.

Both the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder do stand out. Since Miami traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Westbrook has been linked to the Heat because they need a ball handler. OKC also makes sense if this is his last go-around, which would give him a nostalgic retirement tour on a championship squad where he wouldn't have to do much.
