Kimber-Smith and Guasch win Northeast Grand Prix

LAKEVILLE, Conn. (AP) Tom Kimber-Smith and Mike Guasch won the Northeast Grand Prix on Saturday at Lime Rock Park for their third IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship victory of the season.

Kimber-Smith and Guasch also drove the No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA Prototype Challenge car to victory in the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January and the Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.

''It's great to have another victory,'' Kimber-Smith said. ''It's been a long time since we got the last one. We've had a lot of bad luck this year. Coming into this race, we knew we needed the win to get back in the championship hunt.''

Kimber-Smith drove to the finish, crossing the stripe 8.304 seconds ahead of Bruno Junqueira in the No. 11 RSR Racing ORECA he shared with Chris Cumming. Renger van der Zande and Mirco Schultis finished third in the No. 8 Starworks Motorsport entry.

Kimber-Smith and Guasch trail points leaders Colin Braun and Jon Bennett by three points with three races remaining.

In the GT Daytona class, Dane Cameron and Michael Marsal won in the No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW Z4. Jeroen Bleekemolen and owner Ben Keating were second in the No. 33 Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R, folloiwed by Kuno Wittmer and Christina Nielsen in the No. 007 TRG-AMR Aston Martin V12 Vantage.
